Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian who scored a total of 10 in an Olympic sport. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at age six. She would later become the coach for Romania's gymnastics. The first time she competed at the junior national championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She was the winner in 1970. She took home three golds at her first competition at a pre-Olympic junior meet in 1972, which was a the communist countries of the bloc. In 1973 and 1974, she was the all-around junior champion. She beat the Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva. She was a five-time European Champion in her first senior international competition held in the year 1975. She took home four golds as well as a silver. In 1976, she was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games. She became the first woman in the history of sport to take off the parallel bars with the double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager, she began performing in touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol began her career in entertainment in her teens. As a young girl she began her journey as an ice skater with Nina Wayne in the travelling show of entertainment Ice Capades. The shows featured skating on ice and featured theatrical shows.
